On September 14, Holy Trinity in Midland held their annual Blessing of the Badges. Each year they invite law enforcement, fire fighters, EMTs, emergency room personnel and their families to a barbecue lunch. At the meal, they each received a blessing and a challenge coin as well as some of the best brisket and fixings in the diocese. (The challenge is on.) The congregation joined the first responders in enjoying the meal.
Parishioners spent Saturday making coleslaw, potato salad, and pinto beans. Some of them stay up all night smoking meat.
This year between those who came in person and the to-go orders for those who couldn’t get away, we served well over a hundred of our local heroes.
