2026 Canterbury Retreat
Canterbury Episcopal Campus Ministry at Texas Tech will be going to Yellowstone National Park for their annual retreat this year. They will be gone for eight days. The group will begin the trip by driving to Moab, Utah, where they will stay for two days in order to experience Arches National Park. Then, they will travel to Ashton, Idaho which is about 45 minutes from the entrance to Yellowstone National Park. They will spend 4 days near Yellowstone and then return to Lubbock through Denver.
The theme of this year's retreat is "A Journey into the Wilderness." We will be focusing on the calm and clarity that solitude and reflection can bring during a time of chaos and political upheaval.
Twenty-one people will be going on this retreat, including Mtr. Rachel Petty from St. Christopher's Episcopal Church in Lubbock, Fr. Rick Lopez from St. John's Episcopal Church in Odessa, Mtr. Amy Haynie from St. Nicholas' Episcopal Church in Midland, and Deacon Tammy Breitbarth from St. Andrew's Episcopal Church in Amarillo. The clergy will drive the students to and from Yellowstone, and they will contribute to teaching sessions along the way.
Please pray for us as we prepare for the retreat!
