St. Christopher’s Episcopal Church in Lubbock hosted their 13th annual icon camp on September 18-21. Fr. Peter Pearson, renowned Episcopal priest and iconographer, leads the workshops each year. He is from Scranton, PA where he currently serves as a part-time priest. In addition to being a gifted icon writer, Fr. Pearson also wrote A Brush with God and conducts workshops across the country. Father Pearson’s relationship with St. Christopher’s began through his friendship with the late Suzanne Aker, who was also a gifted icon writer.
This year’s workshop was held in Haney Hall next to the wall of icons installed for St. Christopher’s 70th anniversary celebration. The participants of the workshop included a variety of different people, ranging in age from 7 to 95. If you would like to learn more about next year’s icon class, contact St. Christopher’s church office at (806) 799-8208.
