Advent Projects: A Tradition of Love at All Saints' Episcopal School

All Saints Episcopal School in Lubbock annually spends the season of Advent giving back to the community. Our students, families, faculty, and staff shared their time, gifts, and talents with others. It is an impactful way to step back from the “Get-Get-Get” focus that December often brings.

Preschool through Pre-First
Organization: Lubbock Impact
The children completed chores at home to raise $5 to buy items that Lubbock Impact needs. They are also filled Jesus’s manger with acts of kindness that they have completed.

First Grade
Organization: Meals on Wheels
First grade students decorated bags that were filled with holiday meals for people throughout the community.  

Second Grade
Organization: Joe Arrington Cancer Center
Students made gift bags for cancer patients. They visited the center to sing Christmas carols and decorated the entrance with Christmas spirit sidewalk chalk containing motivational messages for the patients.

Third Grade
Organization: The Garrison
Third graders made no-sew blankets for the residents of The Garrison Geriatric Education and Care Center. They delivered the blankets and caroled throughout the building.

Fourth Grade
Organization: South Plains Food Bank
Students collected money for the U-Can Share Food Drive during the weeks leading up to Thanksgiving. They also went to the food bank and made Christmas cards to go in the food boxes.

Fifth Grade
Organization: Toys for Tots
Each student had a predetermined budget decided with their parents. The class went shopping, and delivered gifts as a group to their specified drop off location for Toys for Tots.

Sixth Grade
Organization: Salvation Army Shelter
Students filled stockings for children in the community, as well as provided gifts, that they delivered to the Salvation Army Shelter.

Seventh Grade
Organization: TheRainbow Room
Students traveled to The Rainbow Room to deliver donated items and also help organize and put everything away. NJHS students also made Birthday Cake Kits which were delivered with the other items.

Eighth Grade
Organization: The Haven
The 8th grade collected needed items for The Haven, like dog/cat food, cleaning supplies, blankets, toys etc.   They also were able to tour the facility and play with some of the animals.  

High School
Organization: Salvation Army, American Cancer Society, The Inside Out Foundation

The Salvation Army Angel Tree took center stage in the high school hallway, adorned with individual tags for students to choose from. Each tag represented wish-list items for 50 individuals, including 40 children and 10 seniors.

The upper school boys and men participated in No Shave November, paying $20 to get out of shaving for the month, which they donated to the American Cancer Society.  For the upper school girls and women, they could pay $20 for Dress Down December, donating their funds to The Inside Out Foundation.
