St. Andrew's Partners with Anglican Sudanese Congregation

This spring, St. Andrew's Episcopal Church in Amarillo began a partnership with an Anglican Sudanese congregation, providing a place for the congregation to meet on Sundays at 2pm.  St. Andrew's is excited about this new partnership, and their ability to share their resources with others. The congregation includes 50-70 members including children. On April 16, fifteen people were baptized at the 2pm service. The Rt. Rev. David Kiir Mayath, Diocesan Bishop of the Episcopal Diocese of Panrieng (DOP), Province of the Episcopal Church of South Sudan (ECSS) visited from South Sudan and served as the officiant. 

Fr. Elijah Gai, the Sudanese congregation's priest, is thrilled about this partnership, saying, "the administration and the people of the congregation of St Andrew's define the meaning of love. They welcomed us with the love of Christ. By sharing and using their property with us. Also, some of them volunteer themselves to help us."

Father Elijah wishes to offer this blessing for the whole diocese: "May Almighty God Bless The Rt. Rev. Bishop Mayer Scott. May Almighty God bless Mama Elizabeth Jones.
